Thanks For Reading Indieniche This Year. Here’s a gift For You.
It’s been an amazing 7+ months running a newsletter where founders share their stories, struggles, revenues, and lessons. We launched this publication on April 22, 2024.
I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far; 41k+ reads and 1,700+ subscribers across 112 countries.
It’s incredible how a small idea has grown into something founders actively seek to share their work.
In this article, I’ll share more about the team behind Indieniche, how we source stories, what’s worked, our metrics, and how we plan to support founders further.
The Team Behind Indieniche
Our first articles featured founder stories sourced directly from their tweets on Twitter. The first inspirational story we shared was about Bhanu Teja, an indie hacker from India making $229K in revenue with Feather. so, a Notion-to-blog tool from his home country India. These types of stories have really inspired us to unlock and feature founders doing amazing things
The Indieniche team includes Olayanju Idris, the founder; Popoola Ololade, our chief editor who handles interviews and compiles them; and Olayanju Teslim, our graphic designer responsible for creating all visuals.
How We Source For Stories
One of the biggest challenges in running this business is getting founders to share their stories. Most are busy, and it often takes months of follow-ups. We also face a fair share of rejections.
It’s tough because we need to prove we can edit and present their stories well.
Another challenge is verifying founder revenues. We put in a lot of effort to authenticate the numbers to ensure the stories are genuine and avoid false claims.
What Has Worked For Us
We went through a lot of trial and error to figure out what works. Here’s what has worked for us:
We find relevant threads on Reddit to post about Indieniche.
We look for founders' posts and verify their information on a one-to-one basis.
We collate founders' details for the Product of the Week.
We share founders’ stories on X, substack, and LinkedIn.
We ask founders to retweet the newsletters when they're posted.
We include sponsorship packages.
We make use of the substack recommendations feature.
